Breakfast

In the mornings you’ll be invited to try such local delicacies as home free range eggs, Stornoway black pudding, Loch Fyne Kippers, home made tattie scones, oatmeal porridge with cream, chilli omelettes, kedgeree and exotic fruit salad. Breakfast and dinner is served in our elegant dining room looking south over Loch Melfort to Shuna, Scarba and Jura beyond.

As well serving you the best in traditional scottish breakfasts we have some Melfort House specialities for you to try...

Eggs Hebridean

Chefs Special Creamed Mushrooms

Omelette Arnold Bennett

The Commanders Devilled Kidneys

Afternoon Tea

Enjoy complimentary tea on arrival or after your day's adventures in Argyll.

Sink into a comfortable sofa and enjoy freshly baked scones, pancakes or a slice of Victoria Sponge and as much tea as you need to refresh you after a busy day taking in the beautiful surroundings.

We love this time of day. The sun streams into the drawing room windows in summer time and if it's been chilly outside you can warm your toes in front of the crackling log fire.

Dinner

Why not stay put and enjoy a fine dining experience right here at Melfort House.  With the freshest produce at his fingertips Matthew is reknowned for his inspired cooking. Only the finest local produce is used.  Much of the fruit and veg comes from Yvonne's polytunnel where, during the growing season you can find over 40 varieties.  The best of ingredients, techniques and flavours are combined to produce unique and innovative cooking.

Please give us 24 hours notice if you would like to dine.  As we are not licensed we invite you to bring your own wines for dinner - for which we charge a modest £4 corkage fee.

Every few days we post our day's menu onto our facebook page, but here is an example to whet your appetite.

Crab Risotto

Butternut Squash and Ginger Veloute
Pan Roasted Duck Breast with Potato Rosti, Wilted Spinach and an Oriental Jus
Twice baked Lemon Souffle with Crème Anglaise
